Bergen County Coach Selected for ‘All-American Bowl’ Team East

The Army All-American Bowl is the most watched High School football game every year with over 4.5 million viewers (that is roughly three times larger than the McDonald’s All American High School Basketball game).  This year’s game will be played at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas this Saturday.

The All-American Bowl announced the 2020 coaching staff for the big game.  In the East Coach Jayson West of Warren Central High School (Indianapolis, IN) as Head Coach.  They named Coach Augie Hoffmann of Saint Joseph Regional High School (Montvale, NJ) as assistant coach.

We are proud to present SJR Head Coach Augie Hoffmann will be an assistant coach for Team East for The Army All-American Bowl Game. He was prestigiously selected to coach the Offense Line. Coach Augie Hoffmann played Offensive Guard for Saint Joseph Regional High School from 1995-99. Throughout his immensely successful high school career, Coach Hofmann was recognized for his dominate O-Line play with All-League, All-County, and All-State Honors.

Augie is a lifelong Football enthusiast. After playing for Saint Joseph’s he went on to play football at Boston College (4 Years Varsity), where he earned First Team All East Honors, and the coveted Scanlan Award at BC, the highest honor bestowed upon a BC football player.

Coach Augie Hoffmann’s professional career spanned three years in the NFL for the New Orleans Saints and played an additional year in NFL Europe. He returned home to his alma mater Saint Joseph Regional High School – Montvale in 2009 where he has been the coach for eleven years. He has been the head coach for the last six years. Under Coach Hoffmann, the SJR Green Knights have won several State Championships, and have built a national powerhouse. Two of Coach Augie Hoffmann’s former players went on to play in the NFL.

Augie Hoffmann’s player, 2020 Ohio State commit and SJR captain Luke Wypler (senior) will join the roster on Team East. He will play for his former coach on the O-Line. Coach Hoffmann is known as a class act that coaches his players to be mentally and physically tough. Coach Hoffmann and Luke Wypler will bring that and more to Team East.

The Army All-American Bowl is annually the most-watched and most-prestigious high school all-star event with over 25,000 in attendance. The history and tradition of the All-American Bowl is unparalleled: 410 draft picks; 57 Super Bowl champions; 144 Pro Bowl selections; 16 Heisman finalists.
