Jersey City was recently voted the most diverse city in America. This diversity has led to a plethora of activities and classes in art, music and dance. One such thriving business is the Jersey City Ballet Theater in the Hamilton Park neighborhood of Jersey City.
About the Jersey City Ballet
Judith Elins Palacio, Jersey City Ballet director set out to create a community-based ballet program and the results have been impressive. Their niche is offering professional classes to a small class size at an affordable rate, something that can be a rarity in the ballet world. Judith has over twenty years of dance instructor experience in New York and New Jersey. She studied in NYC with some of the greatest teachers in the dance community at The Alvin Ailey School, New Dance Group, City Center, Cecchetti School, New Jersey Ballet and Broadway Dance Center. She has been a faculty member and repertory instructor for youth and adult programs throughout the tri-state area.
As a freelance dancer she has performed at numerous venues including New York University, Theatre In Action, Whole Theater Company, New Dance Group, Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, Montclair State University, Englewood Performing Arts Center, Symphony Space and Skirball Center. She has choreographed numerous student performances including Disney World Orlando and the London 2012 Olympics. She received her Simonson Teaching Certification under the direction of Lynn Simonson and her Pilates Mat certification from PhysicalMind Institute NYC. Judith is happy to be in residence at The Embankment School, Hudson Montessori, Saint Dominic’s Academy and Newport Stars.
Their mission is to establish a school that trains young people in ballet and the related arts to create a diverse community of educators, dancers and artists. Jersey City Ballet School is to be a center for creativity and make dance accessible to community residents of all ages and dancers of all levels. They help dancers remain current in this ever-changing landscape of the arts.
