Brick City is Dressed Up for the Filming of “The Many Saints of Newark"

On the set of “The Many Saints of Newark” being filmed on Bradford and Halsey Street.  The streets are made up to look like the hot summer of the 1967 riots.  Aside from Newark, there have been scenes filmed in Brooklyn, Yonkers and Nyack.

The much-anticipated film is tapping into the cult following of HBO’s The Sopranos.  The story takes place when Tony was growing up in Newark.  It’s written by David Chase and Lawrence Konner.  The film stars Alessandro Nivola, Jon Bernthal, Vera Farmiga, Billy Magnussen, Corey Stoll, Michael Gandolfini (James Gandolfini’s son) and the legendary Ray Liotta.

The film is produced by HBO Films and New Line Cinema, it’s scheduled to be released on September 25, 2020.

The Sopranos was popular all over the world, but holds a special place in New York and New Jersey, in part due to our large Italian-American population.  Some were disappointed by the ending of the Sopranos series, but I’m sure this movie will have plenty of extortion, murder and mafia to make you feel better.

What was your favorite episode/scene of The Sopranos?  Are you looking forward to the movie?
