Welcome to the newest taco truck in New York, TacocaT NY. TacocaT is a food truck located behind the restaurant DVINE BAR located in Sparkill. You may recognize the owner Chris Holland, a three-time ‘Chopped’ champion. The vibe is casual (like most food trucks), they have a patio with tent and 6 picnic tables. There is a beautiful trail, known as the ‘Joseph B. Clarke Rail Trail’, right next to the truck as well as a playground across from the parking lot.
I had 3 different types of tacos. The PHO-QUE taco. It has bulgolgi that is well seasoned and has flavors that scream Korean BBQ, the kimche wasn’t overly spicy which I really appreciated, and I have no idea what a quickle is but it definitely heightened the taco and had me wanting more.
The next taco is the curried skirt steak. Again, the flavors are so on point, the meat was tender, and the the yucca crunchies on top made a fantastic texture.
And last, the pork belly báhn mì taco. Pork belly was perfectly cooked and overall a great bite.
I spoke with the owner and they had been trying to open for a while and because of COVID-19 they were delayed. I can’t say enough about this truck but I know when the word gets out there, they will be packed.
The eclectic menu is fresh and different from any taco establishment I have ever been to. Times are changing and the food truck era is here to stay. Be sure to check out TacocaT, their hours are 12-9 pm Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday and 12-10 pm Friday and Saturday, closed Mondays.
